Tastes Like Saturday Morning: Vegan Brunch

Last night, I let the kids snuggle up in my bed and we had a movie watching slumber party in my room.  My husband was out of town and it was storming so loud that we just opted to stick together. 

While I don't usually buy sugary cereals, my husband has asked me to get some sweet cereal for snacking and left the box next to the bed.  My daughter tasted it and said:

"It tastes like Saturday morning.  Like something you make on Saturdays."

Old-Fashioned Chelsea Waffles are a huge hit in our house. In fact, our 6yo ate so many this morning that my husband and I each only got half a waffle. Look at that crisp exterior and the center is moist and flavorful!

Breakfast is a often a hard one for new vegans, and for all parents maybe (I've been vegan as long as I've been a parent, so it's all the same to me).  On the weekends, when we have more time, I like to make something special. One of my favorite tools in my kitchen for breakfast ideas is the book Vegan Brunch by Isa Chandra Moskowitz.  Isa never fails to impress me with her recipes, and her writing makes you feel like she's in the kitchen with you making it easy and fun.  
The book has everything from savory to sweet, and they are universally crowd pleasing among vegans and non-vegans alike.
